Fall Festival at Lord Stirling Stable | October 28th

Basking Ridge’s Lord Stirling Stable (LSS) offers pony rides and themed hay rides that kids will surely enjoy. Admire the autumn foliage along the stretch of South Maple Avenue and meet others who share your love for horses. LSS offers horseback riding lessons and other equine activities for most of the year. Other family-friendly events, such as the popular Winter Holiday Festival, also take place here.

Snyder’s Farm Fall Festival | Weekends until October 29th

Enjoy a scenic hayride to and from the festival grounds at Snyder’s Farm in Somerset. Highlights of the festival include pumpkin picking, pony rides, and bowling. Kids can also work off some excess energy at the corn maze, potato sack slide, spider’s web, and other play structures. Check out the pedal carts, get a glitter tattoo, and create happy memories with friends and family.

Halloween Brunch at The Grain House | October 29th

Have brunch with the whole family at the Grain House in Basking Ridge, where Halloween décor, trick-or-treat candy, and balloon animals await. The restaurant serves American fare – feast on bratwurst, lamb chops, and other delectable dishes.

Housed in a historic Colonial building, The Grain House also hosts seasonal events, such as “Dinner Ghosts” with local author Gordon Ward.

Pumpkin Patch & Trunk-or-Treat | October 29th

This is the third year that Franklin Township will be holding this fun, kid-friendly Halloween celebration. Enjoy games and crafts, decorate a pumpkin, win prizes, wear your best costume, and join the costume parade. The event will be held at Middlebush Park and participants are requested to bring a non-perishable item for the Franklin Township Food Bank.

Spooktacular Trunk or Treat | October 31st

Head to the Somerville Middle School parking lot on October 31st with your younger kids and a trunkful of treats. Don’t forget to come in costume. You can register for the event here or you can call the center at 908.722.4400.

Grown-ups can also celebrate Halloween earlier on October 28th at the annual Halloween Pub Crawl in Downtown Somerville. Crawl starts at Division Street just before 9 – costumes are a must!

Mischief Night Madness | October 27th (Rain date 28th)

If you’ve always wanted to play miniature golf with ghouls, now’s your chance. The Colonial Park Putting Course in Franklin will host the event from 4 to 9 pm. Wear your silliest/scariest/most ghoulish costume, listen to spine-chilling tales as you warm yourself at the witch’s cauldron, and enjoy a moonlight hayride. Guests get free goodie bags and free cider and donuts.
